Midsummer Ritual 2006 held at the Tree Ring June 2006

Red Maple Grove holds open rituals. Since Midsummer 1999 we have held
only three closed rits, the three Yule vigils.
The first ADF ritual conducted in Ottawa was the Imbolc 1999 rit done by Silver Fox Grove (ADF folks from Montreal) at the home of Ron and Susan Wulf as the OPN (Ottawa Pagan Network) ritual for that holy day. The first time ADF in Ottawa got together for a ritual was during the full moon for Bealtaine 1999 when at least six of us, including guests, met at the Tree Ring. The Midsummer ritual in 1999 we consider our founding ritual as a grove.
The Tree Ring has been the site of most of our rituals, and other places from the home of Michael Demers in Carp to our Kaleidoscope rits, both at Bob's land and the new place, to the banks of the Rideau and the shore of Dow's Lake, to the homes of Lee Bruce, Ian Clysdale, Liz Cano, Michael Demers, Michael McKenny and Frances Moffett have been locations for our rituals.
Red Maple Grove is fortunate in having a number of keen liturgists among its membership past and future, including Lee Bruce, Ian Clysdale and Michael McKenny.
As can be observed from the rituals included on this page, the standard ADF ritual has some clear distinctions from what those to which many Pagan folk may be more accustomed, including the openness to the surrounding area with the treatment of Outsiders as part of the beginning of the ritual and the invitation of the three orders of kindred rather than a marking of the four quarters, though there have been Red Maple rituals with the invocation of the four quarters of Ireland.
